It’s been a good last few weeks considering the high water and winter fish kill. We’ve been averaging about 15 to 20 Peacock Bass per trip which is slow compared to normal this time of year. Usually the peacocks are shallow and spawning now but with higher than normal water in the canals from all this rain it’s been somewhat tougher. We did experience a fish kill but with all the fry that I’m seeing within a year or two all things will be back to normal I’m sure. Peacock bass grow up to 10″ inches per year and lay eggs very young so the fishery will rebound quickly. Here’s a nice 5 lb. peacock bass caught in the last week of April in Miami.
